A `GHOST BOX` FOR THE HOME COMPUTER?

Image property of Xparanormal.com
It seems everyday some new tool towards communicating with spirit are made available as Android Aps, or in this case, for the home computer. And one such program is the `XParanormal Detector`

The premise here is (quote) :
`Unlike other Ghost detectors for the PC, there is no need for a special external USB key! XParanormal Detector will use your existing WIFI adapter card and/or network adapter from your computer to detect possible paranormal activities in your surroundings! It's that simple.
Easy to use, XParanormal Detector does not slow down your PC at all, it is very low on memory and cpu usage! Even works on most netbooks for easy portability!

Who uses XParanormal Detector:

Paranormal investigators from around the world
 Psychic Mediums
 People curious about ghost hunting

In a couple of words, XParanormal Detector allows any spirits of the dead to use your computer as a source of energy and communicate with you. Using our unique algorithm, energy is capture, analyzed and then transformed into a word that is spoken out to you using Windows Text to Speech engine that is installed on most Windows systems. The word that is detected is then displayed on the XParanormal Detector interface. The main interface includes two visual graphs, one the shows the wave activity in your surrounding and the other to show when there is high flux of energy....`

Of course, I was highly suspicious as this device isn`t connected to radio band scrolling, as that currently isn`t possible. So instead the creator claims to utilise the many `frequencies` operating within the workings of a home computer. So any claims that this device can operate in a manner similar to the `Ghost Box` was worth further scrutiny.

I downloaded and installed this version for WindowsXP and Vista. There is another version for later Windows operating systems.

For an hour, nothing at all happened .. No words, and apparently no activity.
So I then played a TV show to see whether this would help `spirit` to contact with the promised words of communication.
Almost immediately I heard, `anaesthesiologist`. This was recorded on screen too. This word is American English for an `anaesthetist` which suggests that the software has a pre-defined vocabulary, and not words being plucked out of the ether, as I was using this in the U.K.

With the basic program (free) it doesn`t store data, and you only get single line responses. Also you don`t get the promised, `Paranormal Radar` unless you buy the program.

Not quite how this word fitted into what I was doing, but I decided to continue ...

After another 10 minutes, the word, `Man` appeared.

Then nothing at all during my 2 hour test.

I personally think this program  to be pure junk science. There are no scientific values upon which the software was created. Just random electrical impulses which correlate to pre-defined recorded words within the programs `algorithms.`

Not exactly a step forward into the spiritual unknown.

I did try direct contact with spirit, but the software didn`t detect any activity, which hardly surprised me at all.

The suppliers of this software issue a standard caveat to it`s usage: `XParanormal Detector does not guarantee to detect ghosts, nor does its name imply that they exist. But it might, and they might. However, your interaction, emotional state, and belief system, may be important factors in how you interpret unusual events. This software is a useful tool to some people and an amusing toy to others.
This software should be used for entertainment only.`

Which basically says it is unproven scientifically, and should be treated as a toy.

I can`t agree more, but then it was less than entertaining picking up odd words that had no meaning, and in my opinion isn`t worth buying.

LOST CITIES FOUND UNDER THE SEA - OR EXPLAINABLE NATURAL FORMATIONS?

In cultures all over the world, there are ancient stories about beautiful, prosperous cities that became submerged in the ocean and were never seen again.  The most famous of these is the story of Atlantis, but there are many others.  So could it be possible that some of these cities actually exist?  In recent years, modern technology has allowed humanity to investigate the ocean floor like never before.  As we have done so, we have made some incredible discoveries.  You are about to see some amazing mysterious structures that have been found on the bottom of the ocean floor all over the world.  Could these mysterious structures actually be evidence of very advanced ancient civilizations?  As we learn about these ancient civilizations, will this knowledge turn the conventional version of human history that we all learned in school upside down?

We live at a time when mind blowing discoveries are being made at a pace never seen before.  Just last month, I wrote about the megalithic ruins that have just been discovered in Russia that contain the largest blocks of stone ever found (even bigger than Baalbek).

Nobody can explain where those stones came from, who lived there, or how ancient humans could cut and move such massive blocks.

Well, similar things could be said about many of these mysterious structures on the bottom of the ocean floor…

The Ancient Underwater City Of Yonaguni-Jima, Japan

For as long as anyone can remember, residents of Okinawa have passed on stories of a vast underwater city to their children.  Most considered those stories to simply be myths.  But after what happened in 1986, that all changed

In 1986, a diver near the island of Yonaguni Jima, off the southern tip of Japan (around Okinawa) came across some strange structures about 25 metres below sea level.

They appeared to be stepped structures with terraces and ramps.

One of the largest pyramid structures is 600 feet wide and 90 feet high –with five separate levels of stone blocks with what appears to be road surrounding the structure.

Tool marks and carvings have been discovered upon the stones (and documented) which indicate that they have were constructed rather than being natural stone structures.

Masaaki Kimura, a marine geologist from Japan’s Ryukyus University, Japan has been studying and mapping the site for over 15 years and believes that the site is over five thousand years old – but was sunk during an earthquake two thousand years ago.

I have posted a YouTube video about these incredible ruins below.  As you can see, they truly are remarkable…

Dwarka – Off The Coast Of India

An incredible underwater city can be found just off the coast of India as well.  It is known as “Dwarka”, and at the longest point it stretches for five miles.  Once again, this city provides evidence of a highly advanced civilization in the ancient world…

The Bay of Cambay was discovered by marine scientists in early 2002. The city is located 120 feet underwater in the Gulf of Cambay off the western coast of India. The city is five miles long and two miles wide, carbon dating estimates the site to be a whopping 9,500 years old, and, more amazingly, architectural and human remains are still intact. The discovery astounded scientists because it predates all other finds in the area by 5,000 years, suggesting a much longer history of the civilization than was first assumed. Marine scientists used sonar images and sum-bottom profiling to locate the lost ruins and it is believed the area was submerged when the ice caps melted in the last Ice Age. The Indian nationals have dubbed the find ‘Dwarka’ (The Golden City) in honor of ancient submerged city said to belong to Hindu god, Krishna.

In the YouTube video posted below, you can learn much more about Dwarka…

Cuban Underwater City

In 2001, the BBC reported on the discovery of a “lost city” in Cuban waters…

A team of explorers working off the western coast of Cuba say they have discovered what they think are the ruins of a submerged city built thousands of years ago.

Researchers from a Canadian company used sophisticated sonar equipment to find and film stone structures more than 2,000 feet (650 metres) below the sea’s surface.

Some have speculated that this could be the location of the mythical city of Atlantis, but since 2001 follow up work has been slow.  The following is what Wikipedia has to say about this “lost city”…

Cuban underwater city refers to a site thought by some to be a submerged granite complex structures off the coast of the Guanahacabibes peninsula in the Pinar del Río Province of Cuba.

Sonar images interpreted as being symmetrical and geometric stone structures resembling an urban complex were first recorded in early 2001 covering an area of 2 square kilometres (200 ha) at depths of between 600 metres (2,000 ft) and 750 metres (2,460 ft). The discovery was reported by Pauline Zalitzki, a marine engineer, and her husband Paul Weinzweig, owners of a Canadian company called Advanced Digital Communications, working on an exploration and survey mission in conjunction with the Cuban government. The team returned to the site a second time with an underwater video robot that filmed sonar images interpreted as various pyramids and circular structures made out of massive, smooth blocks of stone that resembled hewn granite. Zalitzki said “It’s a really wonderful structure which really looks like it could have been a large urban centre, However, it would be totally irresponsible to say what it was before we have evidence.”

Lake Huron

Did you know that there are ancient ruins under Lake Huron?

They have just been discovered.  According to USA Today, “an elaborate network of hunting blinds and animal-herding structures” has been found that is potentially thousands of years old…

Deep below the surface of Lake Huron, scuba-diving researchers have found an elaborate network of hunting blinds and animal-herding structures dating back roughly 9,000 years.

Lake levels of the day were some 250 feet lower, exposing a narrow bridge of land running from one side of Huron to the other. Prehistoric people evidently thought this isthmus was a perfect place to intercept caribou on their seasonal migrations. The hunting site they built, now inundated, opens a window onto prehistoric America and provides valuable evidence in a region where such artifacts are practically non-existent.

Underwater City Near Saipan

Thanks to Google Earth, ordinary people like you and I are able to examine our planet like never before.  For example, one gentleman named Scott Waring believes that he has been able to spot a massive underwater city near Saipan using Google Earth.  The following is what he had to say about what he discovered…

Hey guys, was looking over Google Earth and came across this remarkable looking underwater anomaly. The massive walls seem to go for about 50 miles, but long ways is about 250 miles. Sure these anomalies could be an ancient Asian civilization that sank under the ocean long ago, but it also could be an underwater alien base. Its size and location would insure millions could use it and since its in such a secluded area, few humans will ever see their UFOs leaving/entering the water.

Video of him discussing this discovery is posted below.  Check it out and come to your own conclusions…

I have a feeling that we are just scratching the surface of these underwater discoveries.  And since many of these sites have been totally undisturbed by human activity for thousands of years, we could potentially find some things that are absolutely mind blowing.

But the question is this – as more information about our ancient history comes to light, are you going to be able to handle it?

HAUNTED EARTH TV TO SCORE ALL MUSIC ON FUTURE PRESENTATIONS

Since the recent hassles over copyright with Google concerning `free to use` music, I have decided that in all future presentations across the internet, the music used will be composed by me, and not third party music which (despite legitimate use) were often proscribed by Youtube as belonging (wrongly) to commercial music agencies.
I discovered by chance through necessity, that I could actually score my own music rather than relying on the work of others.
This for me at least means that I can specially create music to fit the mood and circumstance of my videos. This is a HUGE step forward in the development of my work.
My last main documentary was 95% my own music.
This piece `UPBEAT MONASTIC` was created as a demonstration.
The accompanying photographs were also shot by me.
I hope you enjoy :)

NEW SCHOOL TO TEACH PARANORMAL SUBJECTS

We can all agree that when it comes to the paranormal or supernatural, there are skeptics, but a San Antonio school claims it can teach people how to become psychics, mediums, and even spiritual healers.
“My goal is to empower you,” said Cathy Coker, Ph.D.  “Empower the true spirit that's asleep.”
Coker runs the Coker Institute of Empowerment.

The school offers classes on how to train your brain and your body to connect with the so-called spiritual world.

Coker opened the school because she believes everyone has a supernatural ability, whether they know it or not.

“There are some people that don’t know what their gifts are,” said Coker.
That was true for student Adriana Evans-Garcia.
According to Evans-Garcia, she discovered her gift of “spiritual healing” though taking classes.
Evans-Garcia said she had a fibroid under her arm.
“It was the size of a quarter and now it's gone,” said Evans-Garcia.

Since discovering her ability, she claims she's performed many more acts of healing.
“I’ve seen people that cannot walk, be able to walk,” said Evans-Garcia. “I’ve seen people that cannot see, be able to see. Just a few weeks ago, I saw people be healed from seizures.”
But it all begs the question, how do you teach something that has no scientific proof or facts to back it up?
“What I usually teach people is to trust your intuition,” said Coker Institute teacher Sonia Beatrice. “We all have it. Many just don’t realize what's going on.”

Beatrice says she's a psychic.
She believes everyone can unleash their supernatural abilities by simply trusting their gut.
“Some of us have higher sensitivities and intuition, and others have less, but we still use it,” she said.
Coker hopes that her school grows from the couple of dozen students she has now.
However, in the end she knows she still has a lot of convincing to do.

“I would say come and just sit in one of my classes,” said Coker. “Just come and experience and then judge.” The Coker Institute of Empowerment opened in January. The school charges $20 per class.

SCIENTISTS ADVOCATE NEW METHODS IN STUDY OF PARANORMAL

A growing number of scientists are calling for a shift in scientific methods to acknowledge phenomena commonly experienced but difficult to study according to conventional methods.

Here’s a look at some insights from scientists who explore paranormal phenomena or matters related to human consciousness. They discuss how science can move forward.

Dr. Gary Schwartz
Dr. Gary Schwartz received his doctorate from Harvard, taught psychiatry and psychology at Yale, and is now a professor at the University of Arizona. He has studied individuals who say they are able to predict the future.

“If you’re going to test someone who claims to do extraordinary things, it’s essential that you design the experiment to be as close as possible to what they actually do,” said Dr. Schwartz on his website.” And if you don’t design an experiment around their actual skills, you can end up asking people to do things that they actually can’t do or that don’t really represent what they do.”

Schwartz tailors the tests specifically to the individual abilities instead of imposing a cookie-cutter test of precognition. Not everyone who can predict the future can predict it in the same way, he says. He has found people he considers “the real deal.”

2. Dr. Bernard Beitman

Dr. Bernard Beitman
Dr. Bernard Beitman, a psychiatrist at the University of Virginia, proposes the establishment of a transdisciplinary study called “Coincidence Studies.”

He wrote in a 2011 paper: “One of the biggest challenges in the development of the new discipline of Coincidence Studies is providing a systematic place in scientific research for subjectivity and for human consciousness. Meaningful coincidences depend upon the mind of the observer. The question of how to develop methods and an accompanying technical language that includes and respects the subjective element built into the fabric of coincidence needs to be answered.”

 3.   Dr. Alan Sanderson

Dr. Alan Sanderson
Dr. Alan Sanderson is a psychiatrist, hypnotherapist, and spirit-release therapist. He founded the Spirit Release Foundation in 1999, an organization dedicated to the clinical treatment of spirit possession.

Dr. Sanderson wrote in a 2003 paper: “I want to stress that the concept of spirit attachment and the practice of spirit release are not based on faith, as are religious and mystical beliefs. They are based on the observation of clinical cases and their response to standard therapeutic techniques.”

“This is a scientific approach, albeit one that takes account of subjective experience and is not confined by contemporary scientific theory.”

He noted that this field of study still faces some obstacles, though he hopes to see those clear as it progresses. The discipline is relatively new; much “suspicion, ignorance, and misinformation about the subject” exists; and funding is an issue.

How Do You Form a Control Group for ESP?
In their 1973 book “The Challenge of Chance,” Alister Hardy and Robert Harvie explore a widely publicized test of extrasensory perception (ESP). The experiment did not provide strong evidence for ESP, but perhaps the methods didn’t fit the subject.

People were asked to read other people’s minds and draw what they saw. For the small portion of pictures that seemed to match, the researchers were tempted to say it may truly have been because of telepathy. But they stopped short of that admission, in part because the success rate in the control group was high compared to the group being tested.

But what if not all the people in the test group who claimed to have the ability did, while a few were genuine? What if many people have ESP and a random sampling of people are actually able to sense to some degree what another person is thinking on without necessarily having felt in the past that they had some special abilities?

Future Experiments

Smartphone apps are being used to study collective consciousness and the phenomenon of coincidence. Users report their experiences in real time and the wealth of data collected helps researchers.

Stanford Physicist William A. Tiller has developed what he says is a method of physically detecting human intention. He has discovered a powerful realm in the space between particles that contains an energy our conventional instruments cannot usually detect. Tiller has realized, however, that human consciousness or intention can activate that mysterious energy, making it interact with the substances we are able to detect. He can thereby study the physics of human intention and this energy.

In the age of mass communication, anecdotes and amateur investigators can often provide a starting point for more in-depth investigations. Here’s an example of a netizen who tested his friend’s paranormal ability and shared it on Reddit:

“[My friend] claimed he was able to leave his body during sleep and basically travel around in his spirit form. I took it with a grain of salt for obvious reasons, but I didn’t dismiss him right off the bat because I knew him pretty well and he wasn’t the type of kid that would try to troll me about these things.

“At the end of the night [of hanging out at my place], I told him hey, why don’t you prove to me that you can really fly around as a spirit and come to my room tonight [traveling from his house to mine during sleep].

“I came up with the idea that I would write a note on a post it and he would have to guess what I wrote. He agreed.

“Fast forward to the next morning. I get a call from him telling me that he had … read the note. … He got it right.

“This experience has really blown my mind. I know it would be hard for most of you to believe me, but this really happened and I am 100 percent positive that there was no way he could have seen what I had written on that post it.”

GHOSTLY SILHOUETTE APPEARS ON PHOTOGRAPH AT ANZAC WAR MEMORIAL

Dusk had settled and night was closing in on Beach Cemetery at Hell Spit, on the old Anzac battlefields of Gallipoli, when Fairfax photographer Joe Armao opened the shutter on his last series of pictures for the day – and captured something inexplicable.

Only three people were at the cemetery, or anywhere, so far as we were aware, within kilometres: Armao, guide and local author Celal Boz, and me.

Celal was standing among the silent graves, the only person – no more than a silhouette in the gloom – in the camera's field of vision.

By the time the shutter closed, what appeared to be another ghostly figure had been captured by the camera.
The shadowy silhouette of a figure in a wide-brimmed hat appeared in the frame.

In the foreground is a flower that grows between the gravestones.
The spectral figure appears in only one of a series of three near-identical frames shot by Armao over 40 seconds. The camera angle had changed no more than 15 centimetres over the series of pictures, and the shutter had been set for a 2.5-second exposure because of the gathering dark.

Armao saw the unexplained apparition when he checked the frames a few seconds later.
He could offer no explanation, but he said the hair stood up on the back of his neck. When he showed Celal and me, we packed up and left the empty cemetery.
Armao, a Walkley-award-winning photographer of 25 years' experience, said he had never seen anything remotely like the picture that appeared on his screen.

Hours of close and sceptical inspection of the frame, including extreme digital enlargement, comparison with other frames and lively discussion of a number of theories about shadows from the flower, tricks of the light and movement of the camera during the 2.5-second exposure offered no conclusive explanation.

It was simply a moment in a darkening graveyard, 99 years since Anzac soldiers stormed ashore at nearby Anzac Cove, captured by a closing shutter.
We offer it for your judgement.

NEW TRAILER FOR `CATHNAFOLA` - ON RELEASE ON 17th JUNE 2014

Due for DVD release this coming June 17th 2014, is a new paranormal movie entitled, `Cathnafola`, with a free bonus investigation at Leap Castle, reputedly one of the world`s most haunted castles.

Cathnafola centres on a real investigation of a very remote and derelict Irish mansion called, Cathnafola House which was shot as a joint participation between Haunted Earth and October Eleven Pictures.

Directed by the award winning movie and TV Director Jason Figgis and produced by Chris Halton of Haunted Earth TV, the investigation was filmed following a compelling video sent to Haunted Earth late last year by a group of investigators based in Ireland.

The original video was actively spiritually intense, and showed a number of strange and frightening occurrences captured to film by these investigators which warranted further investigation to confirm or deny the content of their video which they claimed to be genuine.

After lengthy negotiations with the site owner, we were allowed to film a follow up investigation which (without revealing too much information), was one of the best events ever captured by Haunted Earth with hardcore and quite terrifying activity caught to camera. The First Assistant Director, Jason Shalloe was visibly affected during this shoot which he regards to be the most frightening experience of his life!

The movie premièred in Dublin at the Irish Film Institutes, `Horrorthon`, and was aired to a nearly full large cinema capacity audience with good and positive feedback from the critical horror genre fans in attendance.

Here is what one person from the audience has said on the movie:

`I saw Cathnafola at the Irish Film Institute Horrorthon. It is one hell of a scary movie. The hair on your neck just keeps creeping up. Looking forward to getting in on DVD and seeing the bonus film, which I don't know.`

Ordering for U.S and Canadian readers:  (DVD is region free and can be played anywhere)

If you enjoyed the trailer, and want to see the whole movie (with bonus video, `Leap into Darkness`) you can pre-order from this Amazon link to receive your copy on release.

 The Legend of Cathnafola House

In a far forgotten corner of old Ireland lies the ruins of what was once a magnificent late Gothic revival mansion. Now lying hidden some two miles from the nearest country lane, this once proud dream of wealth, circumstance and social acceptability is now all but a faint echo of a past life.
Built in 1855 by Hubert Vazey-Asquith, for his pregnant wife and expectant child, Cathnafola House was beset with problems from the day the first brick was laid.
The site chosen for this project lay across the remains of an almost forgotten ancient battle site where Irish chieftains battled for three days and nights for territory control, yet despite the hundreds of dead and dying warriors left to rot where they fell, there was no overall winner.
As the Vazey-Asquiths learnt to their bitter dread, the area named historically as Cath na fola or `battle of blood` belonged to nobody of this realm and particularly not to English settlers who were given these lands via a descendant of Cromwell`s bloody Irish campaigns .
Shortly after starting the build, his wife gave birth to a healthy son named Grayston, but because of complications during child-birth, she unfortunately bled to death.
Hubert was grief struck, but with a small child as heir he felt he owed it to them both to finish the project.
A few years after completion of the house Hubert suffered a second loss as his son died of an apparent food allergy to eating sweet chestnuts harvested on the estate.
Hubert then shut himself away from the society upon which he had previously wanted to be part of. He rarely left the house, and was beside himself with grief as he could see no more purpose to his now lonely life.
One morning, a young maid despatched to take breakfast to his bedroom was shocked to find Hubert dead having hung himself during the night from a rope attached to a first floor balcony.
In his dressing gown pocket a suicide note written by Hubert was found which confirmed the loss of his wife and son as the reason for ending his life.
As there were no immediate heirs, the estate was passed to a distant relative living in Britain who had only ever met Hubert once as a child, and had very little interest in Ireland or indeed Irish affairs.
This inheritor, a man named Sefton Villiers-Vazey had no need of the house or the estate having already owned a profitable and less worrying house and horse stud in mainland Britain.  However he continued to run the estate through agents and was for the most part an absentee landlord having only visited the house twice within 15 years of ownership.
In 1880 Sefton died on a business trip to Portugal, and his son, Montague who had no interest in his fathers properties ordered that the Cathnafola estate be sold by auction in Dublin through the family solicitors.
The house and the estate was sold sight unseen by to a new owner, one Darby Hesmondwicke, a 50-year-old successful London businessman who wanted a country estate in Ireland to eventually retire to.
Darby arrived at Cathnafola as a single man in 1881 and immediately began restoration work on the house and estate after some years of neglect.
Darby had no problems finding workers and artisans to complete the work, and in return paid his workers a fair wage and ensured no estate families would suffer during this terrible period.
He soon made the estate self-sufficient and profitable, and was regarded by the Irish staff and tenant farmers as a firm but kindly man.

Elizabeth Hesmondwicke
In 1882, he met the beautiful Elizabeth O`Donnell, a lady of noble Irish ancestry from Dublin, and importantly to Darby, a recent convert to the Protestant faith.
Being some 20 years younger than Darby, she was regarded by many as quite a catch.
Beth (as she was known) was a dark-haired beauty with deep brown eyes, whom it was said may have had Spanish blood in her ancestry which was perhaps evidenced by her latin temperament.
Despite her lineage to alleged early Irish royalty, Beth knew that outside of Dublin society, she was little more than a traitor to the predominantly Catholic Irish, and to polite English circles nothing more than an Irish whore.

However, at Cathnafola as wife to the gentlemanly Darby she was regarded as the lady of the house and enjoyed there at least, a modicum of respect from the estate workers.
For some years the couple tried desperately to have a child, but always without issue.
This brought a strain on an otherwise happy relationship, and after acknowledging failure of an heir, Darby started to lose interest in the estate and increasingly travelled between Cathnafola and London where he conducted an interest in stocks and shares.
Beth however, was tied to the affairs of running the estate`s business and refused to join Darby in London.
By 1890, Darby`s absence became almost permanent, and by arrangement with his wife he recruited as an estate manager, a 39-year-old Englishman from the London Home Counties to assist her in Ireland.
William Trentham
The appointee, a single man named as William Trentham came from a respectable  middle-class family who had returned from colonial service in India some years before.
William was regarded as a thorough and efficient manager of a tea plantation in Assam, and had impeccable references which more than qualified him to run Cathnafola`s 40,000 acre estate.
However, what was not shared to his new employer was Trentham`s cruel disaffection towards the natives of India, and indeed against anyone not deemed to be British enough to his tastes.
Within that umbrella of bigotry, Trentham clearly saw the Irish as no worthier than the Indians, and  shortly after arriving on the estate he set about unravelling the good work his employer had achieved in Anglo-Irish relations.
Trentham was known to walk the estate with a heavy indian rosewood walking stick which he used frequently to beat workers whom he regarded as `erstwhile savages`.
He also had perverted sexual tastes and upon young female staff members he indulged in what he called `horseplay`, but in modern terms would regarded as rape through sodomy.
Rumours of his behaviour soon spread not just across the estate, but to nearby villages and hamlets. There was little anyone could do as Trentham employed local thugs to mind out for him on his daily rounds and the local resident magistrate shared much of Trentham`s hatred towards the Irish.
Technically Beth was Trentham`s employer, but as he was highly efficient in running the estate profitably, and also of course relieving much pressure from her shoulders, she turned a blind eye to many of his misdeeds.
As the month`s passed Beth grew increasingly frightened of Trentham, who was an overbearing bully whose fiery temperament gradually wore down Beth from the status of employer to that of his mistress.
Within a year, Trentham, or `Master William` as he preferred to be addressed, had moved from the manager`s cottage and into the matrimonial bedroom.
Here he continued in a sordid affair with Beth and also with other female staff in service.  As a consequence some fell pregnant through him and were immediately dismissed from the house and estate.
Darby knew nothing of this, and instead read accounts that showed a profitable business and no complaints from his now estranged wife.
This unhappy state of affairs came to a head almost two year`s later when Beth too became pregnant by him.
As everyone knew that Darby the absent father could never have been the father, Trentham panicked, and this recklessness was to drive him from the status of rapist to that of a cold-blooded murderer.
In late February 1893, Beth went into labour. An abortion at Trentham`s insistence months before was ignored by her and despite being whipped because of it, she was still able to reach full term.
As staff prepared the master bedroom to assist with the delivery, Trentham refused to contact the local doctor to deliver the child. It was believed that her battered and scarred body might reveal the full extent of Trentham`s evil upon her, and as a consequence he decided that he would deliver the baby himself.
Around midnight, Trentham ordered the domestic staff to leave, and from threats of being sacked, the women reluctantly left the master bedroom to Trentham and Beth.
It is said that not only did Trentham deliver the live birth of a baby boy, he immediately tore the child from her clutches and after separating the umbilical cord, he wrapped the screaming child in a bedsheet and took it (whilst Beth pleaded hysterically) down into the cellars where he had prepared an open chamber and that the still crying baby was walled up alive after bricks were cemented into place to permanently seal the crime.
The crying it is said, continued for an hour and then was heard no more.
A few days later a bereft with grief Beth flung herself from an attic window and died during the fall after impaling herself on railings below.
By now the truth of the monster that was William Trentham had turned even the thugs in his service against him, and fearing reprisals from the estate workers, it was rumoured that Trentham was left unconscious in the house as it mysteriously caught fire burning and incinerating both the body of Beth and Trentham.
A search of the ruins a few days later revealed the remains of a man and woman, and the entire matter was covered up by the resident magistrate who feared his own inaction to earlier complaints might go against him should the real truth be revealed.
When Darby later heard the official account of an accidental house fire that was recorded as probably caused by a dropped oil lamp, the matter was closed by him, and the surrounding farmland and tenancies were sold to neighbouring farmers.
Darby never returned to Ireland.
Many years later, it is alleged that a cellar wall within the ruins was removed for storing poteen (illicitly distilled whiskey) by a farmer, and inside, and still wrapped in a faded and rotten bedsheet were what appeared to be the remains of a human baby.
The farmer apparently fearful of the Garda discovering his illegal activities buried the remains in a nearby field.
Today Cathnafola exists as grand ruins sheltered by tree`s and undergrowth, and very little visited by modern man.
It is rumoured that the remains are still haunted by William Trentham and Elizabeth, and that sometimes her baby can be heard crying as she roams the house calling for her child.
Trentham (according to legend) is sometimes seen as a malevolent entity that gloatingly follows Beth on her nightly vigil, and because of the house`s fearful reputation nobody will travel there at night.

`GHOST` IMAGES DISCOVERED ON PHONE MEMORY CARD BY OWNER

A FAMILY were spooked when they discovered ghostlike pictures of a little girl in Victorian costume shadowing them from room to room around a museum.

John Burnside came out in goose bumps with he found the images of the child lurking in the background on his phone two years after they were taken.

They were taken two years ago – when he popped into York’s Castle Museum with partner Shona Backhouse and their son Johnthomas Burnside, then just 18 months' old.

John, 27, a labourer, of Wakefield, had no explanation for what had happened.

He had never seen the little girl before until he found his old memory card in the pocket of his pyjamas and transferred the contents onto his new phone.

He was sat next to Shona, 25, on the couch when they spotted the extra figure in the photos.

He said: “It was weird. I didn’t notice anything at first then I thought I was imagining it. So I asked Shona and she said ‘Yes. It’s a little girl.’

“When I phoned my mum she at first thought it might be a little girl that my sister lost but my dad spotted the girl in the picture was in Victorian dress.

“It’s enough to make you paranoid. It gives me goose bumps every time I think about it.

“I don’t like the idea of ghosts or anything like that. It gives me panic attacks. There was not little girl like that on the day at the museum.

“It was pretty dead there to be honest all through the day. Anyway, it looks like you can see right through her.”

There have been claims in the past at Castle Museum is haunted.

A crew filming an episode of Derek Acorah's Ghost Towns programme in 2006 insisted they had heard shrill voices and seen ghostly children running around.

Shona, who works in a tanning salon, said: “I don't know that the thing is. It is like it was following us because it was in the last picture of me taken outside.

"It is really weird. I never noticed it until other day when we looked through the pictures.

"But I told John when was at the museum that I had funny feeling and didnt like it there.

"The room one of pics was taken in I wouldn't go inside. It gave me goose pimples and shivers.

"Our son was around 18 months' old at the time. I can't really remember if he sensed anything - but I know I didn't like it at all though."

To me, these photographs look fake. The first behind a grill looks more like an old photograph of a woman and child merged in with the background. The quality of the images are extremely poor quality which helps to mask any suspected fraudulent images.
And of course, the images lay unseen for 2 years before they were `shockingly` discovered...
I wasn`t there, I could be wrong. But from experience, these images look highly suspect.
But at least the images owners got their 15 minutes worth of fame ..

PARANORMAL INVESTIGATORS CAPTURE A VOICE OF A MAN CALLED `RICHARD` IN HOME FORMERLY VISITED BY RICHARD III

Amateur ghost hunters claim they have made contact with the spirit of Richard III, next to the bed where the king reportedly spent his last night.

Members of the paranormal investigation group Haunted Heritage said they recorded the spooky encounter at Donington le Heath Manor House, Leicestershire, last year.

But they said they did not want to publicise the recording at the time because of the furore surrounding the discovery of the king's remains under a Leicester car park.

It is believed that King Richard III spent the night at the house before riding out to the Battle of Bosworth in 1485 and dying on the battlefield.

King Richard III was defeated by Henry Tudor and the battle is regarded as one of the most defining moments in British history.

During a recording, the group ask: 'What is your name' a reply of 'Richard' can then be heard. The group then say: 'Thank you so much for that.'

Medium Gill Hibbert, 56, from Coalville, Leicestershire said: 'It was in the main room upstairs in the manor house - it was coming up to the witching hour.

'We had been there since 8pm. At about 11.45pm, we started the call-out session.
'We were standing in the dark, but there was a bit of light coming in through the window.'
Mrs Hibbert said she asked if anyone was there and then said: 'come forward'.

She then switched on the ghost box - a modified radio which allows spirits to 'speak' through white noise - and called out again.

She said: 'Then we heard the name, 'Richard' - it was so clear. We were blown away.
'The night was quite uneventful up until then - we had a few knocks and bangs - but when that came through it was the icing on the cake.'

Mrs Hibbert said the voice was one of the best examples of paranormal contact the group had witnessed.

They have given the recording an 'A' grade because of the clarify of the sound.
The group has now contacted professional paranormal investigators so that the recording can be analysed further.

Mrs Hibbert said: 'We're not saying it's Richard III.
'We're trying to get a historian from Donington le Heath to look into other Richards who have lived there.

'But no one has found anything yet. We are being careful about saying it's Richard III because we can't prove it.'

Richard's remains were discovered by archaeologists in 2012. His body was buried in what was Grey Friars Church, Leicester, after his death. The site later became a council car park.
A legal row is now ongoing between those who want him re-interred at Leicester Cathedral and others who say he should be laid to rest at York Minster.

To be fair to the investigators, they are not claiming it is Richard III, but the media are alleging so.
Nothing like over-hyping a fairly run of the mill paranormal story, and yet ignoring anything that has real substance. That`s the media ..

POLTERGEIST ACTIVITY REPORTED FROM A NEW HAMPSHIRE STORE

A video of cake dish cover flying off a counter top is causing quite the stir in Gilford, N.H. Mainly because nobody can be seen flinging the large glass object.

Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and the rest of the Ghostbusters were not called in to investigate, but yesterday a professional medium and ghost hunter did arrive at the Ellacoya Country Store to see if they could discover why the dish jumped off the counter and crashed into a thousand pieces on the floor.

Video captured by the store's surveillance camera shows the glass top quickly moving up and off the counter, as if it had been pulled by a string. Yet the peanut butter squared on the dish itself remained untouched. There is nobody else visible in the video clip (see below). The fact that this happened did not come as a huge surprise to the store owners as the colonial-era building, constructed in 1745, is no stranger to ghostly apparitions.

"In 2002 when we opened the store, I had looked and I had seen a man standing, and it disappeared as fast as I saw it," said Lisa Ferraro-Giles, store manager.

The medium Karen Tatro immediately got into the spirit of the event saying she felt strange "vibes" and had a sense that it felt very heavy in the room, particularly near where the cake dish was sitting.

This would coincide with other incidents noticed in the store.

"It's little things. You'll turn the lights on, and they'll go off. Or turn them off, and they go on. People say they've felt somebody tapping them on the shoulder, when there's no one there," saidFerraro-Giles

"It almost feels like someone kind of stays in this particular area, and is observing the store and what's happening," Tatro said. "(It) felt like a woman. Felt older."

A more skeptical Parapsychologist Brian Cano wasn't so sure. While admitting that something mysterious did happen in the store, he could not say one way or the other that it was a ghost that caused the damage.

Despite the destructive nature of the alleged ghosts, store workers said they were not afraid, but would like some answers.

Perhaps the store needs to upgrade its surveillance to a full home automation system to include motion sensors and HD cameras to properly track down its poltergeist.

SCOTTISH PSYCHIC SHOP ALLEGES POLTERGEIST ACTIVITY

Owner Sharon Short, claims that paranormal activity has been taking place and she’s now looking into having paranormal investigations carried out over the next few weeks.

Some might say they’re not surprised.

But the Psychic Shop in Kilmarnock’s Bellfield... is haunted.

Owner Sharon Short, claims that paranormal activity has been taking place and she’s now looking into having paranormal investigations carried out over the next few weeks.

She said when she came in on Monday morning stock was found lying on the floor.

As this had never happened before Sharon thought it was “weird” so she had her colleague check the CCTV footage.

“At one point I could connect with the spirit in the back of the shop, there are also cold spots at reception,” she told the Standard.

CCTV footage has been posted to Facebook to allow  customers see for themselves and shows an ornament slide off the shelve and fall on to the floor.

Sharon, who only opened the shop earlier this year, said that this strange activity had only begin to take place after a woman came into her shop to enquire about paranormal investigations.

The woman also accused Sharon of carrying out the devils work by doing readings for people.

Since then, stock has apparently been flying off shelves and also there are also claims that there are cold spots in the reception area of the shop.

There has been no previous signs of paranormal activity taking place in the shop until Sunday night and things have only been moving off the shelves when the shop has been closed.

HAUNTED BUILDING OWNER FAILS TO WIN COMPENSATION FROM PREVIOUS OWNERS

KITCHENER — The case of the "haunted" labour hall has finally been laid to rest by the highest court in Ontario.

Trajan Fisca hoped to get $1 million in compensation because nobody told him a three-storey building in downtown Kitchener had ghosts before he bought it in 2010.

But after launching a lawsuit on that basis and getting short shrift from a local judge, Fisca didn't fare any better when he took his complaint to the Ontario Court of Appeal.

In a one-page ruling Monday, a three-judge panel dismissed his bid to get a trial to show how the building is "stigmatized" and therefore worth much less than he paid.

The panel noted there is no direct evidence of financial loss or testimony from anyone "who observed any strange occurrences in the property."

Fisca purchased the historic 1922 building at 137-147 King St. E. from the K-W Labour Association for $650,000.

Soon after, an executive for the association joked to a Record reporter about the building being haunted, a story he later said he had heard over drinks at a bar.

When his lighthearted comments appeared in print, Fisca claimed he should have been informed of the "existence of a death and/or murder" at the property and that he had essentially been sold damaged goods.

Justice James Sloan ruled last fall that there wasn't enough substance to the case — which named the association and two real estate agents as defendants — to even go to trial.

"In essence what we have is a double hearsay rumour about a ghost from a couple of people after they had consumed a few beers at a social function," he wrote.

While upholding Sloan’s ruling, the appeal court also ordered Fisca to pay more than $6,000 in legal costs.

A VERY HAUNTED VENETIAN ISLAND UP FOR SALE - POVEGLIA

A lease of a Venetian island described as one of the most haunted places in Italy is due to be auctioned off next month as the Italian state desperately seeks to raise revenue.

Poveglia, a small, uninhabited island in the Venice lagoon, minutes from St Mark’s Square, is among five prime properties, including a castle and a monastery, that will go under the hammer in an online auction to help cut Italy’s massive debt pile.

The 17-acre island was fought over by the Venetians and the Genoese in the 14th century - and still shows traces of being fortified - before it became a quarantine station for ships arriving at Venice in the 18th century.

After a plague was discovered on two ships, the island was sealed off and used to host people with infectious diseases, leading to legends of terminally ill Venetians waiting to die before their ghosts returned to haunt the island.

A hospital for the elderly which opened in 1922 and operated until 1968 is rumoured to have hosted experiments on the mentally ill, including crude lobotomies, carried out by a director who was driven mad by ghosts before throwing himself from the hospital’s tower.

The island is currently closed to visitors, but an American TV presenter who visited the island and entered the abandoned hospital for the Travel Channel series Ghost Adventures claimed to have been briefly possessed by a ghost there.

The Italian state is now hoping that offers will arrive to transform the hospital into a luxury hotel under a deal giving the buyer a 99-year lease to redevelop the property, while the island remains the property of the state.

A further four properties listed for auction will be sold off rather than leased, including a monumental monastery in the crumbling old town of Taranto in Puglia, in the heel of Italy, and a 15th century castle in Gradisca d’Isonzo, near the border with Slovenia, that was built to defend against the Turks.

The state sales agency is selling off the properties after first ensuring buyers have the permits to redevelop - an essential prerequisite in Italy, where red tape can deter investors.
A former barracks in Trieste is also going under the hammer, one of dozens of disused barracks buildings built in the centre of Italian towns and dating back to the unification of Italy, which the state is trying to sell.

A spokeswoman for Italy’s state sales agency declined to put a possible price on Poveglia but noted that barracks buildings had previously been sold for up to €3.8 million. Another 148 properties are due to be auctioned off this year, with the state hoping to raise €500 million.

COLLECTION OF FAUX GHOST PHOTOGRAPHS BEING SOLD AT AUCTION

The art of spiritual photography dates back to the 19th century when William H. Mumler made a name for himself as a photographer-turned-medium allegedly able to conjure deceased individuals with his camera. The psychic photography movement had been around for a few decades, but Mumler is considered the first to have commercialized the trend, producing images -- like the famous Mary Todd Lincoln portrait -- that feature what appear to be, well, ghosts.

Fast forward a few years, and photographers like the London-based Richard Boursnell and J. Evans Sterling, as well as the Scottish brothers Craig and George Falconer, took up the helm of spiritual photography. The former followed in the vein of Mumler, capturing ethereal figures hovering beside sitters. The latter specialized in "ectoplasm" portraits, eerie images that show a thick white cloud near or around subjects' faces. (Ectoplasm, for the uninitiated, is a substance or spiritual energy "exteriorized" with the help of mediums.)

From a group of eight photographs of séances, silver prints, 1930s. Estimate $1,000 to $1,500. At auction April 17.
We came to the attention of these strange, historical objets d'art thanks to The Vault and the folks at Swann Auction Galleries, who unearthed photographs by the Falconer brothers, Boursnell and Sterling, and their contemporary Frederick Hudson for an upcoming sale entitled "The Vernacular Eye: Photographic Albums, Snapshots & Objects." According to Swann, men like the Falconers invited viewers to not only observe the mediums at work during seances, but also the loading, shooting and developing of film during the photographic process. The process amounted to images like this:

Of course, a healthy dose of skepticism accompanied the rise in popularity of spiritual photography throughout the early 20th century. "The brothers were arrested and convicted, in 1931," Swann writes on its website, "when two plainclothes policemen, who were posing as sitters, charged that 'extras' (spirits) were actually photomechanical images and the cloudy ectoplasm was manipulated." Not surprisingly, Mumler also faced legal scrutiny back in the 1860s. As art history has proven, the camera, in the hands of seasoned professionals, can be a powerfully manipulative tool.

Nevertheless, the act of recording "supernatural visitations" has clearly persisted. Take, for example, the plethora of ghost hunting shows that populate television channels like Animal Planet, Discovery and SyFy. So, if you're as intrigued by ghost hunting's past as you are by today's pop paranormal activity, feast your eyes on Swann's collection of spiritual photographs here.

From a group of five British photographs depicting spirits and a bearded man, albumen prints, 1895-96. Estimate $2,500 to $3,500.

"The Vernacular Eye: Photographic Albums, Snapshots &; Objects" sale will take place on April 17, 2014. All photos courtesy Swann Auction Galleries.

DAHMER MURDER HOME UP FOR SALE - MAY BECOME VEGAN EATERY

The house where serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer grew up and committed his first murder is for sale again in northern Ohio.

Situated on a private wooded lot in a wealthy neighborhood near Akron, the three-bedroom home is priced at $295,000.

The home was first listed two years ago before being pulled off the market. Realtor Rich Lubinski said it failed to sell then because of the depressed housing market and its notorious past.

"If you can get past that little problem, you'll have a wonderful place to live," said Chris Butler, the home's current owner.

He bought the house in 2005, well aware of its history. He said he was drawn to the house by its 1950s style and wooded lot.

"The fact that it was Jeffrey Dahmer's house was not an attraction," Butler told WKYC-TV in Cleveland. "I am not a ghoul. I am not interested in the supernatural."

Dahmer and his parents moved into the house in 1968 when he was 8 years old. Ten years later, he committed his first murder there, killing a hitchhiker he had brought home and then burying the remains in the woods.

Dahmer moved to Wisconsin in 1982 and went on to kill 16 more people before his crimes were discovered in 1991. He was killed in prison in 1994 by a fellow inmate.

Lubinski said he has gotten calls every day about the house since it went back on the market about two weeks ago. About half the people don't seem to care about its past, he said.

"The others, they're immediately not interested," he said.

He tells potential buyers that "this house never killed anyone."

The ranch-style house was built in 1952, and a year later it was featured in the Akron Beacon Journal for its modern style, open layout and floor-to-ceiling windows that provided views of the wooded hillside.

It's shielded by trees, but still draws attention. A film crew from Japan came last month for a story on who lived there.

The house isn't open for tours, and Lubinski will only show it to serious buyers. "This is not a museum," he said.

An animal rights group is taking a stab at buying the childhood home of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in an effort to transform the Ohio house into a vegan eatery.

PREVIEW VIDEO OF DOCUMENTARY SHOOT AT ST BRIAVELS CASTLE

Following from my earlier post on our visit to St Briavels Castle, Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.

Link: PARANORMAL WEEKEND AT HAUNTED CASTLE SURPRISES GUESTS AND INVESTIGATORS

I`ve been working on the day edit from the shoot which includes a tour of the castle`s ghostly history with the author, Ross Andrews.
Here is a taster of what is to come. In this edit rough, I`ve created the imagery in sepia to add a particularly period `taste` to the events.
The full video will be conjoined to the night footage edited by Adam Heath, of Forest Paranormal Investigations. When a release date is imminent, you will all be informed.
Hope you enjoy!

PARANORMAL WEEKEND AT HAUNTED CASTLE SURPRISES GUESTS AND INVESTIGATORS

Over the weekend of Friday to Sunday, March 28th - 30th, 2014, both team mate Sean Kim and myself attended St Briavels Castle, in the beautiful Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.

The occasion was as a guest of our friends Adam and Paula Heath, who run Forest Paranormal Investigations. As you recall late last year, we worked with Adam on two joint productions shot in Tintern, Wales and Coleford, Gloucestershire.

Great use was made of K2 EMF`s and Ghost Boxes which produced some spectacular results.
So the opportunity to work again with Adam at the weekend `Phantomfest`, was something I could not resist.

Joining us at the castle were a goodsized crowd for the building, as St Briavels is quite one of the smallest castles I`ve ever been to, with the exception of Leap Castle in Eire.

The guests were from Lancashire, Nottingham, and even further afield with a party of Australians, who wanted to sample a flavour of St Briavels haunted past.

During that weekend some very strange incidents of paranormality were recorded but not only us, but also by the guests too. And these experiences ranged from seeing spiritual activity, as well as more coventional contact sessions in a circle or on ouija boards and/or ghost boxes.

But for me, the very best part was when I and guests from Lancashire and Nottinghamshire were with Adam in the Chaplains Room at the top of the East Tower, which like many dormitories were named after it`s periods as a castle defensive, and later as a prison where many people died.

Adam Heath (right) with team mate, Sean Kim
Adam set up an experiment using modern Zenner (esp) cards, and a ghost box to hear any responses. Additionally, we had a K2 EMF detector to use as a communication device with spirit.

And here I was simply blown away. On the first face up cards, spirit was able to identify the card by it`s image, and after some minutes, I decided to place the cards face down on the table and selected at random (face down) a card which I placed directly onto the table.

Spirit was able to easily identify the face down card by stating auditorily through the ghost box the image on the card. As an extra confirmation I asked spirit to confirm the choice by flashing the lights on a K2, which it quickly obliged.

The test with the zenner cards
This went on for some further minutes, and it was quite obvious that the spirit responding to the test was conferring with others, and that these voices could clearly be heard on the ghost box speakers.

The assembled guests ranged from believers like Jan, a medium, to Chris, a sceptic. Adam, had left shortly after setting the test up.  And the audience were a good cross selection of investigators.

Jan, Bob and Nik
Chris the sceptic was visibly shocked to see this experiment, and for him, this was a ground breaking moment. But for the rest of us, it was spirit showing itself again, but in a manner I never thought possible. Truly astounding!

I then at the end of this period placed two zenner cards face down, and although it was apparent that spirit was flagging in energy, the choices were again, 100% correct.

The ouija board and ghost box in use inside the old kitchen
We then went later to the former downstairs kitchen, and again using the same set-up as before, spirit came through, and kept repeating my name. I assumed this spirit wanted
me to continue with this game, which clearly this spirit was enjoying with us. And again, spirit correctly identified the imagery on the face down zenner cards.

As an aside, using the ouija board present during the second test, the spirit identified itself as a former servant at the castle called Beth Jones, and also stated she was Welsh.
She shared some aspects from her life there, but by this time the energy was starting to wane, and so the contact session ended.

Without any corroboration, this story would be just that, a story. But both events were recorded on a nightshot Sony camcorder, of which Adam has the tapes (with masses of other evidence) to share as a joint production with Haunted Earth tv.

But for me the supernatural didn`t end there.

That night, I was sharing the Chaplains Room with team mate Sean Kim, when after a few minutes we could clearly hear below us in the Constables Room, the sound of furniture being dragged around and other noises which suggested the guest in that room was having some kind of a party.

Unbeknown to us, the same noises were being heard - but for a much longer period, by Adam and Paula Heath in the bedroom below the Constables Room.

In the morning, the room was examined and found to be exactly as it should. There was one occupant, the author of many books on the castle`s ghostly history, Ross Andrews.
He stated that during the noisy period, he was fast asleep in his room. But he wasn`t surprised we could hear this noise as there have been similar reports in the past.

Dressed for the documentary shoot
But not all went well with spirit. On the second night (Saturday) I was carefully walking down the stone spiral staircase in the East Tower, and beside the entrance door to the Constables Room, when I felt two smallish hands touching my waist. This then became a sharp push, and I went all the way down the stairs before ending up on my back.

I ended up suffering from grazing on my left elbow and little finger, with bruising down my spine terminating in more bruising on my coccyx.

I know that many guests at the castle had many paranormal encounters, and I am not privy with the details of these. But by Sunday when the guests finally left, many had decided to return at a future date to experience more nights as guests of St Briavels Castle.

The full video will be available later on as a joint production between Forest Paranormal Investigations and Haunted Earth tv.

Finally, may I thank Adam, Paula and Mark of FPI, as well as the many wonderful guests that made this weekend very special.
